National Scrapbooking Day

As National Scrapbooking Day coincided with our Bristol Scrappers Crop I felt I should do some pages, getting into the flow I finished 6 pages.  I usually look on line for inspiration that I can 'scrap lift' and came across a layout that would go well with one of my photo's.  When the day was finished Amy looked at my layouts and said I did one like that, I showed her the photo I was working from and it was her layout I had found on the web, just proves you don't need to search the web, just check out what your friend's are doing and pinch their ideas!!!!

Scrapping by the Sea

My sister-in-law said to me the other day "what did we do before sat navs?", well this weekend I found out! The car was packed up on Friday to head off to Linda's Just Scrapbooking Weekend in Bournemouth, I put the sat nav on and waited and waited, no signal could be found.  Now I know where Bournemouth is and how to get there but once there I had a few errands to run and find my friend's house which I have not been to before.  Luckily Mark had given me his ear piece for my phone so I had to call him and use the power of google maps street view to navigate from Poole to Bournemouth and then back again in time to meet up for lunch, thanks to him I made it, just slightly late but had a lovely lunch with Alexa and met her lovely little doggie Reeva and her puss cat Gus.

The moral of this story is obviously to remember the old days and carry a map with you!

The weekend was spent at the Ocean View Hotel in Bournemouth, it was lovely to see some old faces from other weekends and have a catch up and a few giggles along the way!

We had a play with lots of messy stuff, watercolours, acrylics and texture mediums, I managed to complete 7 layouts and 2 finished backgrounds to use.  Here are some photo's of the weekend.

Laughs, Mess and Inspiration - Just Scrapbooking

I have just returned from another weekend retreat with Just Scrapbooking held at the Hatton Court Hotel in the Cotswolds, as usual it was a weekend filled with lots of laughing, making new friends and great inspiration from Linda.  The only thing missing was my partner is crime, Alexa, who couldn't make this one!

There were 6 workshops over the weekend teaching a particular technique, we then incorporated this into our own layouts, the great thing with Linda's weekends are you are encouraged to develop your own creativity, you are not just given a kit and everyone makes exactly the same layout, everyone's were so different even though they were from the same technique.

We worked with the Gelli Plate, metal and fuseable fibre and film, these are some of the layouts.

Kate Crane Art Journal Day

For my Birthday this year my Sister in Law took me to The Stamp Attic for a day with the lovely Kate Crane.  The class was "Drawing in your Journal", everyone can draw, I guess I just need more practice!

We started the day with a few drawing techniques, sketching without looking, then drawing the person opposite you, sorry Alexa!  We tried drawing the person opposite with your non dominant hand, surprisingly my left hand drawing was better than my right!

For the journal pages I drew a funny bunny character and some houses, the first journal page was painted with acrylic paint then used stencils and bottle tops to add textures.  The second page we used the Dylusions spray inks with stamping over.  I still need to finish them off but here is the work in progress: -

Whilst I was browsing in The Stamp Attic (as you do!) I spotted this really cute paper by Prima so just had to buy a couple of sheets and made this page of Mark and I in Kefalonia last year.

Scrapping Day

Had a very productive day today at my monthly crop Bristol Scrappers, managed to get six layouts finished and one almost completed.

This first one was inspired by watching a video on how to use the Stewart Gill paints by Linda of Just Scrapbooking, you can watch Linda's videos on her blog http://justscrapbooking.wordpress.com/.  We were given a pack of paints to use at the Altered Book weekend.  Stewart Gill paints are lovely to use, they allow you to build up dimensional layers on your page. I used the true colours as a base coat, then added some of the pearlise to give a pearl sheen, then a top layer of Byzantia colour, a rich metallic paint.  Added some stamping and textures.  These paints are available to buy from Linda's online shop.

 Then a couple of Halloween layouts.

This is Charlie as Catula, makes a great Halloween photo, I added some blood from his fangs in Picnik and gave him some ghoul eyes!  Must have been a full moon??

Then a layout from last nights firework display.  I used the Dylusions spray inks, sprayed each colour then blew with a straw to give the look of fireworks exploding.  I also used a swirl stencil with the ink sprays.

This was the last layout of the day, needs a bit of finishing off.
